"MELROSE PLACE" PREMIERE STUNT
Melrose Place premiered on Tuesday, Sept 8. The weekend before was Labor Day Weekend, and we were challenged to come up with a unique way of promoting the premiere of the show. We decided to take a stunt that a group called Improv Now did a while back in NYC's Grand Central Station where several hundred people froze for a few minutes with no explanation.
But this time, we had some green shirts printed up with "I'm watching MELROSE PLACE this Tuesday" printed on the front. The hope was that they would all be frozen and people would notice they all had the same shirts on and read them.
About 30 people showed up and we ambushed the Albuquerque Grower's Market. They didn't know we were going to do this. I think it ended up being a fun little stunt, and we might try it again sometime.
